Graham, property developer, low back pain with spasms

Graham is a property developer who has a healthy lifestyle and who enjoys gardening, walking, cycling, swimming and skiing in the winter. He came to me at the end of August complaining of a very localised pain in the left low back accompanied with spasms. His pain started 2 weeks earlier when he used a ground gun at work. After diagnosing the issue I provided him with the appropriate treatment which consisted of a combination of osteopathy, electrotherapy, acupuncture and a simple exercise regimen. He had a total of 2 treatments after which his issue was resolved.  Please note that very good results were obtained rapidly in part because Graham has a healthy lifestyle.

Anna, hairdresser, neck pain

Anna is a hairdresser in her 30’s who has resumed working at the end of the lock-down. However to respond to the demand of her customers she has had to work long hours and 6 days a week. She had been suffering from pain in her neck and trapezius muscles since she was 17 years- old but her pain got very severe then. Laura is otherwise healthy. She received 5 weekly treatments from me during which I used osteopathy, acupuncture, gave her some exercises and advice on posture, nutrition and general lifestyle in relation to her ailment. She is now pain free.

As Graham,  Anna responded very well and quite quickly to my treatments because she is generally healthy. In comparison to Graham it took more treatments because Anna’s problem was an acute stage of a chronic condition (18 years-old).

Below is the written testimony of Anna:

”I’ve been hairdressing for 18 years now and always had problems with my neck on and off a burning feeling , but I’ve never had such bad pain since lockdown and not being able to work for 4 months then coming back to work and being extremely busy .

I started having physio and it didn’t really do to much I had heard about Julien at the life centre and people said that he is really good .

So thought I’d give this ago and now after 5 sessions have no pain at all in my neck , I’m going to have a session maybe once a month just to keep everything working well , Julien is very talented at what he does and also has a very relaxing personality making you feel comfortable would highly recommend .”

Angela, retired, knee pain from athritis, fracture and osteoporosis

Angela, a 71 year-young retired woman, came to consult me initially because of a pain she was having in her left knee when walking. Apart from this issue, Angela was in good shape and health. She had been suffering from this pain for months and it was prevented her from walking, an activity she was enjoying doing daily before. An X-ray of her knee revealed that the inside part of Angela’s knee joint was ”bone to bone” that is that the joint space had reduced significantly and that osteoarthritis (wear and tear) was present and advanced. She received treatments from her GP and a physio but without positive outcome. After examining Angela I designed for her a program to address what I found was responsible of her knee pain. Osteoarthritis (wear and tear of the joints) wherever it manifest in someone’s body is first the result of imbalances and problems in the body and is secondly not in itself the cause of pain. My treatments focused at reducing the mechanical stress that her left knee was under by addressing the whole body mechanics. They also consisted at improving the impaired circulation in her knee by different means such as acupuncture and electrotherapy. I also prescribed her various supplements and exercises. Angela came for treatments weekly and improved every time she returned. I discharged her after 6 treatments as she was completely free of pain and was able to resume her daily walks. I however recommended her to carrying following some of the advice I gave her.  A few months later Angela came back to consult me but this time it was because of her left wrist. She broke it in several places following a fall and had to have surgery. When she presented to me it was a few days after the surgery and was wearing a plaster. She had pain in her left elbow and shoulder and her fingers were swollen. A couple of treatments were enough to get rid of these symptoms completely. More treatments were provided in order to ensure optimum healing of the wrist and to remove any imbalances resulting from the immobilisation of Angela’s arm. Angela also followed a natural treatment protocol designed at treating the osteoporosis. Once her plaster was removed, Angela’s wrist and hand were stiff and swollen . She was limited in what she could do with her wrist and hand and all movements were painful. The scar from the surgery at her wrist was also inflamed and painful. Treatments which also included rehabilitation were provided to address those issues and were successful. She indeed was discharged again after 8 sessions with no pain and a fully functional hand and wrist.

Jeff, mental health nurse, asthma

Jeff, a 52 years-young Irish mental health nurse, was suffering from asthma since his childhood and was using inhalers daily since to control it. However he recently started having more attacks which were also lasting longer than in the past. Having heard about me from her partner I treated successfully for a chronic back issue he came to me ”open and ready to give it a go!”. It was fortunate that he had this attitude as it contributed greatly to the improvement he made through the months and made things easier for me. Chronic conditions take time to resolve and requires more efforts from the patient. They always requires the patient to make changes in their lives but they are worth making! With Jeff, improvements started being noticeable after about 4 treatments which was encouraging considering his condition and its chronicity. This made him more receptive to my advice and to the information I was providing him and encourage him to apply them. He made the necessary changes gradually and he improved month after month to reach a stage where he only has to use his inhalers very occasionally in certain circumstances. My treatments consisted in improving the mechanics of the chest, ribs, thoracic spine, releasing any muscle tensions of the muscles involved in breathing, balancing the energy flow into the meridians making sure that the energetically weak lungs could strengthen, giving exercises to improve the movement and energy in the chest and its circulation throughout the body, detoxifying the body especially in Jeff’s case, his large intestine, stimulating the healing and regeneration of the lung tissue, relaxing the part of the nervous system involved in breathing and desensitizing Jeff to the allergenic agents identified as problematic.

Michael, prolapsed disc in the low back, sciatica, diabetes II

Michael was refereed to me by his GP. He was a 57 years young heavily built and overweight construction site manager working long hours and 6 days a week. He was diagnosed with a right sciatica (nerve pain down the right thigh and leg). An MRI of the low back showed that the sciatica was caused by a disc in his low back bulging and compressing one of the nerves that goes into the thigh and leg. Michael already had had several treatments but only with minor reduction in his pain.

The level of pain he felt was high even by taking the maximum dose of painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs. What’s more his sleep was significantly disturbed. From the onset of his symptoms till the time of consultation he kept on going to work and bear the pain. Because of the acuteness of his symptoms I started treating him every 5 days combining osteopathy, acupuncture, electrotherapy, cold therapy, specific exercises, natural pain killers and anti-inflammatory, an anti-inflammatory diet and more. In his case the first two weeks of treatments had to involve taking time off work in order to allow the disc injury (bulge) to heal sufficiently. Thanks to Michael’s compliance to my treatment regimen he was pain free after these 2 weeks. At this stage we decided that he could resume working but only part time initially in order to minimise the stress and pressure on the injured disc. Decompressing the spine by resting and other means was essential. Further treatments were also vital to reach a complete resolution of the problem and the healing of the disc and nerve. This was achieved over 8 weeks from the first consultation. Michael resumed worked but I gave him some recommendations to follow in order to prevent any problem with his low back in the future. I kept seeing Michael for a couple of months every 2-3 weeks to monitor him. Afterwards I simply recommended him to come back every 6 months for a check-up.

One day Michael contacted me by phone to ask me if I could help him this time with diabetes (type II). He had been diagnosed with it a few weeks ago and wanted to try a natural approach before starting taking medication. I designed a program tailored to his needs to tackle the condition. It involved primarily dietary changes, an exercise regimen and taking supplements. It took about a year for Michael to implement and apply all my recommendations, not without difficulties along the way, but the reward was great as not only he is now free from diabetes but he also lost the excess weight he was carrying, normalised his triglycerides and feels more energetic and healthier!

Lab assistant with migraines

A 29 years young lab assistant came to me one day due because of migraines she had been afflicted since 14 years young. After approximately 6 consultations spread over 4 months we got to the root cause of her migraines and she is now completely free from them!

Roger, businessman, gout, heartburns and reflux, risk of stroke

Roger was a 57 years young businessman who enjoyed very much his food and wine! He was overweight, stressed out constantly and took little time to look after his health. For about 17 years he had been suffering from intermittent episodes of severe gout (pain, swelling and inflammation of certain joints). The medication for gout he was taking did not work any more and on the advice of a friend I treated for heartburns and reflux, he came and saw me. Like his friend he also had heartburns and reflux! The most common causes for all these symptoms are inappropriate diet, stress and excess weight. Quite straight forward and easy to treat in principle! However almost impossible when the patient is not willing to make the appropriate dietary adjustments and not giving up anything! Roger was one of these people. He wanted to carry on following the lifestyle which had led him to his health challenges. I was unable to help him then as he did not even want to  try to do the bear minimum. I did not see him again before a few years had passed. Things got worse during this time. Not only his initial symptoms got worse but he had a mini stroke 3 months earlier. Fortunately he had fully recovered from it. He was a different man then and was ready to embark on a journey towards health. Over a period of 3 years with a monthly consultation on average, he was able to take control of his life and health. He followed my transformational treatment regimen which I made as easy as possible. Dietary and lifestyle changes were at the heart of the regimen and as of today he is free of gout, heartburns and reflux and according to certain blood parameters is not any more at risks for any cardiovascular events such as stroke.
