Homotoxicology was primarily developped by the German physician and homeopath Dr Hans-Heinrich Reckeweg (1905-1985).
Homotoxicology is a homeopathic system in which a diagnosis is made, followed by an individualized assessemt according to the severity of the patient’s disease. This takes into account the response of the patient’s self-regulatory system to exogenous or endogenous stressors (stressors coming from the outside of the body or originating from inside the body).
Treatment is given, using predominently homeopathically prepared medicines, to support the inherent self-regulating ability of the body rather than just treat symptoms, which are seen as an expression of the body’s own defense that should not be suppressed.
In homotoxicology, disease is seen as the expression of biologically purposeful defense mechanisms agianst endogenous and exogenous stressors (generally described as homotoxins) or the expression of the organism’s effort to compensate for the toxic damage that it has sustained.
The main purpose of any biological treatment such as homotoxicolgy is to restore homeodynamics via support or therapeutic intervention of the body’s own self-regulatory processes and to eliminate all the factors that will prevent this regulation such as toxicity.
The 3 methods homotoxicology uses to influence the global autoregulatory system of the body and to bring back the body into health are:
- Detoxification and drainage of the extracellular matrix and of the cells
- Immunomodulation
- Cellular, tissue and organ support
